Mt. Annapurna I


Annapurna is derived from Sanskrit word, which literally means “Sustenance”, but in general, Annapurna is translated as Goddess of the Harvests, fertility & agriculture. Moreover, according to Hindu religion Annapurna is an incarnation of goddess Durga. Mt. Annapurna I lies in the western part of Nepal. It rises to 8091m. Above the sea level Mr. Maurice Herzog of France 1st time scaled Mt. Annapurna I on June 03,1950 via North Face.
This highest mountain lies at position of : Latitude: 27 °51’42’’ & Longitude 86°51’50’’

Mount Annapurna I (9091m/26,545ft) is the 10th highest mountain in the world which is located east of a great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki River in the Western part of Nepal.There are four summits make up Annapurna with the entire massif forming a barrier on the northern side of the Pokhara Valley in Nepal. The main summit stands to the west of the Annapurna Sanctuary. It was the first eight thou-sanders to be climbed. There are four summits called Annapurna; the entire massif forms a barrier on the northern side of the Pokhara valley. It is located east of great gorge cut through the Himalaya by the Kali Gandaki River. The mountain has the glaciers on its western and north western slopes, which drain into this gorge.

Day 48: Drive to fly to Kathmandu
