Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking


Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking is one of the most famous and short classic trek trail located in central heart of the Annapurna trekking region of Nepal. Ghorepani and Poon hill (Pun Hill) is the place where thousands of trekkers visited each year. This trek is possible to go anytime of year and it might be suitable for everyone those who are looking easy-medium trek holiday in Nepal. Annapurna Poon hill trek is possible to make within 3 or 4 days go and back same route through the Ulleri village, ending the trek at Nayapul but Ghorepani Poon Hill trek in 5 days is possible to make the circle (circuit) of Ghorepani and Ghankdruk, which is no need to walk in same route to return back at Nayapul. Nevertheless, our below given trek itinerary is for 6 days just for trekking section and ending the trek at Dhampus Phedi. The Ghorepani Poonhill trek highest elevation is 3210 meters at Poon Hill which is one of the best view spot in the whole Annapurna region from where visitors can see the best sunrise and sunset with wonderful Himalayan views including Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m, Annapurna I 8091m, Fishtail / Machhapuchhre 6993m, Nilgiri 7041m, Bharha Shikhar 7647m Annapurna south 7219m, Annapurna II 7939m, Annapurna III 7555m, Annapurna IV 7525m, Lamjung Himal 6988m, Hiun chuli 6434m and many more white smiling mountains.



Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Day 03: Kathmandu drive / flight to Pokhara (850m)
Day 04: Pokhara drive to Nayapul then trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m)
Day 05: Tikhedhunga trekking to Ghorepani (2855m)
Day 06: Ghorepani trekking to Poon hill (3210m) to Tadapani (2610m)
Day 07: Tadapani trekking to Ghandruk (1,940m)
Day 08: Ghandruk trekking to Pothana (1900m)
Day 09: Pothana trekking to Dhampus phedi then drive to Pokhara (850m)
Day 10: Pokhara drive / flight to Kathmandu
Day 11: Sightseeing to Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur
Day 12: Leisure day in Kathmandu
Day 13: Depart Kathmandu


Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
After you arrive in Kathmandu airport please check our company board outside the main gate there will be our airport representative you will meet with him and he will transferred to hotel by private vehicle and our representative will help you to check-in your hotel after that if time enough, representative will take you to our office for short briefing about the trip but if not enough time then give a short trip brief in hotel and request to pay the due balance for the trip. Day 02: Sightseeing to Swayambhunath, Kathmandu and Patan
After breakfast, tour guide will take to you for full day sightseeing in historical monuments sightseeing places including swayambhunath known as monkey temple, Kathmandu durbar square & Patan durbar square then drive back to Hotel. Overnight at hotel

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (850m)
Trekking staff will arrive at your hotel at 6:30 am to pick you up to tourist bus station for journey to Pokhara. Normally bus leave at 7:00 am from Kantipath and it takes about 7 hours from Kathmandu. Today, you can take a breakfast in your hotel that you order earlier night or request to manage packing breakfast that you eat in bus journey because on the way we are not stopping for breakfast as well not available good breakfast but we stop for a lunch so try to eat Nepalese food (Dal Bhat). Afternoon you arrive in Pokhara then check in your hotel and refresh and look around lakeside. Pokhara is a beautiful valley, with panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchare (shape of fish tail) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west, Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. The town of Pokhara is set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu providing the perfect starting point for our trek. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Pokhara drive to Nayapul then trek to Tikhedhunga (1577m)
This morning we will drive for about 45 Km. This drive offers you the best view of Annapurna Himalayan range with terraced landscapes and villages and then descending to the Nayapul. From there our trek begins in this warm sub tropical region. The walk follows the Modi River upstream to Birethanti & follows the east bank of Bhurungdi Khola with scenery of waterfalls, high green forest and follows the picturesque trails and finally reaches to Tikhedhunga. Lunch will be eaten en route. Walking distance is four hours and we will stay overnight at Tikhedhunga village where you can enjoy the cool splash of the cascading waterfalls. Overnight at teahouse

Day 05: Tikhedhunga Trek to Ghorepani (2855m)
After breakfast you will continue the trek. The path ascends steeply for couple of hours to Ulleri village with the scenery of terrace landscape and Annapurna Himalaya. From here the path is more gradual up hill on the winding trail through the cool shade of forest; the walk continues mostly uphill, in the midst of the giant rhododendron forest and you finally reach Ghorepani Deurali. Ghorepani is a busy spot on the ridge in the midst of the beautiful rhododendron forest, offering grand views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range to the north and west. Overnight at teahouse

Day 06: Ghorepani Trek to Poon hill (3210m) to Tadapani (2610m)
Today your guide will wake you early in the morning for a 40 minute hike up to Poon hill with the help of flash-light or moon light offering morning glimpse of stars and walking through the Rhododendron forest. Poon hill is named after the hill tribe Pun, inhabitants of Ghorepani and the surrounding area. It is also an Advantage spot for the most panoramic scenery from the far western Himalaya of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak, Dhampus Peak, Nilgiri, Annapurna including Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail), Hiunchuli, Manaslu and Lamjung etc. Nearly 600 km range of mountains can be viewed from this great spot with the spectacular sunrise on the mid western Himalaya range. After a great time here return to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue trek to Tadapani, we make climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). After that we descend to the Banthanti, then turning off to Tadapani. This is a wonderful place with close views of the Annapurna sough and Fishtail Mountains, situated in the midst of the rain and alpine mixed forest. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 07: Tadapani Trek to Ghandruk (1,940m)
Today’s walk leads through the serene forest for an hour on the gradual path to Bhaisi Kharka. From this spot the trail descends with occasional views of the Mt.Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchre (Fishtail). The trial descends through forest, creeks and small streams and into the maze of trails until Ghandruk village. This is a semi-modern village. On reaching Ghandruk at lunch time you have enough time to explore the village and Gurung cultural museum afternoon and relax. Overnight at teahouse.

Day 08: Ghandruk Trek to Pothana (1900m)
We decent down to Modi Khola and start climb up to Landruk village (1545m) a pretty big village inhabited by mixed community of Gurung, Magar and Brahmin as well. Now the trail gently ascends to Tolka (1700m.) and then ascent and level path to Bherikharka. From here, the trail goes steeply up to Deorali (2100m.) with a view of different mountain peaks in panorama. Now the trail gradually descends to Pothana passing through different oak forests. Pothana is a small town resided by Gurung, an ethnic community of Nepal. From here too, you can enjoy the splendid views of various mountain peaks. Overnight at teahouse

Day 09: Pothana trek to Dhampus phedi & drive to Pokhara (850m)
Trek from Pothana to Dhampus Phedi and it takes approximately three hours and drive from Dhampus Phedi to Pokhara by private vehicle. The trail is gently descent up to Dhampus, a village mainly inhabited by Gurung. Now you trek through flat land for some distance and steeply descend to Dhampus Phedi. Now you take vehicle to drive from Dhampus Phedi to Pokhara it takes about 35 minutes driving distance. Overnight at hote

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus
It takes about seven hours, while driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you head up to Damauli,, Dumre, Muglin and Kurintar where the Nepal’s first Cable car is operated to reach to Manakamana Temple. En route, you could enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life activities. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to capital city. You can also fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu which takes about 25 minutes. Overnight Hotel

Day 11: Sightseeing to Boudhanath, Pashupatinath and Bhaktapur
After breakfast, tour guide will take to you for full day sightseeing in historical monuments sightseeing places including Boudhanath (biggest Buddhist stupa), Pashupatinath temple (A biggest Hindu temple) & Bhaktapur durbar square then drive back to Hotel.

Day 12: Leisure day in Kathmandu
Today, you have leisure day for relax or shopping in Kathmandu so you can do your own activities by yourself or consult with company to arrange extra activities. Overnight at hotel

Day 13: Depart Kathmandu
After breakfast, End of our services with departure transfer to the Kathmandu airport to board flight for your onward destination
