Thame, a way station on the trade to Tibet over Nangpa La pass, a larg village with an old monastery and glorious view of the Kwangde range and its western Tenkangpoche extension, besides the Thamserku and Kangtega mountains. It is the birthplace of famous mountaneers i.e. Tenzing Norgay Sherpa (1st person to climb Mt.Everest), Ang Rita Sherpa (Snow Leopard) has been awarded with a Guinness World Record certificate for making the most number of successful ascents on Mt Everest without using the supplemental oxygen. Apa Sherpa (21 times in Mt. Everest), Lhakpa Rita Sherpa (1st Nepali Seven Summiter & International Guide), Kami Rita Sherpa (22 times in Mt. Everest). Lhakpa Rita & Kami Rita are brothers. In between them all together they have climbed 39 Sumit till 2018. In this village 95% of people are mountaineers. It is a pleasant 3-4 hour hike from Namche Bazaar, and while you can return the same day, it is best to make it a two day trip, so you can enjoy the place.

- Please note that climbers have been delayed in Lukla awaiting return to KTM. At times helicopters can fly when planes cannot. Helicopter cost is approximately $500 -600 paid by the trekker.
